Resources for Capturing Data, recording stories
Why do we need to capture stories?
Story template (could be filled out when story is uploaded)
This is a guide created for the Learning Technology Team in 2007/2008 for capturing success stories from staff. It is located on the LTT Resources page of the e-Learning Kit

Suggested Template
This is a suggested template for use alongside stories captured by the NCTAFE staff, i.e. each story should have a page on an agreed Institute space (The Depot > coming as part of One Web). When staff upload and tag a file / story, they could fill out a simple form capturing the data below. This would be an executive summary of the file;
Title, Discipline, Location
The who's and where's of the captured story
Overview
Text summary or description of the story, might include;
teacher, community group, industry partner, student profile
how the story came about
what support was required for the story (as in, Business team, marketing, Hub, etc)
links to any relevant online spaces
Links to resources used to capture story, i.e. quick-e
link to project documents e.g. project plan.pdf
The Story
Links to audio/ video files, PowerPoint presentations or other media used to capture data
Equipment and technologies used
Identify any technologies or equipment that made the story possible.
Tips & Tricks
What worked, what didn't work?
Align to strategic Improvement areas
Story Resources
Links to any resources referred to or used in the story, e.g. websites, blog's, wiki's, moodle, camera glasses, mobile phones etc
Rating
Wouldn't it be great if staff could rate stories?
Note: These stories should demonstrate innovative approaches to using technologies for teaching and learning

Note: These stories should demonstrate innovative approaches to collaborating, capturing stories and utilising new technologies.
What questions should I ask?
Think of three basic questions. e.g:
What do new technologies look like for me?
What is exciting about them?
What is challenging about them?
But wait, there's more if you fon't like those:
Who are you using new technologies with?
What was the impetus for you to use new technologies with them?
What technologies did you use?
What were the issues you faced when starting out?
How did you overcome these?
Has technology enabled you to teach and learn more effectively?
How was teaching/learning with [insert technology] different from other methods you have used?
What other resources did you use?
What support did you need? Who from?
What did you learn?
How did the customer respond?
How does using technology with industry partners or community groups change the way you do business? Has it changed?
Did using technologies change/improve the relationship?
Were there any issues or barriers?
What were the outcomes of using the technology with students/ colleagues/ industry, etc?
If you had to talk to any other teachers about using technology for teaching/ learning, what would you say to them?
Is there anything you would do differently next time?
What do you see for the future of technology at NCTAFE?
