Clients

Indigenous students doing a Certificate II in Business – School Based Trainee Course No 9741 which is a Board Endorsed course with limited access to technology. They could benefit from our eLearning strategy, utilising the web tools and technology available to broaden their options for online study by increasing their research capability. Currently, they have not done any research using web tools or technology and are very exicted to be part of this strategy.
Client Challenges
These learners do not have the internet at home or a computer at home.

2008 Project Objectives

  • To Increase learner employability of client group by building technology capability
  • Use of an iPod for workplace assessment, questioning, recording, gathering evidence. To be used as an example of Industry currency in business industry.

Donna is particulary keen to embed our eLearning strategy into her entire faculty by integrating the use of technology into standard Assessment Validation practices. She will be running a competition with an iPod as a prize for the section most active in uploading their assessment tools to an online Faculty space.

2008 Project Objectives

  • To increase teacher capability by engaging and empowering colleagues.
  • To integrate eLearning practices across the entire faculty

Mixed group of students doing Business courses - several disabled students (one is completely blind), two indigenous students, several mature age students, gen y students, trainees in the workplace, students seeking rpl, all working within the VE. They would definitely benefit from working with the mobile technology.

2008 Project Objectives

  • Provide the students with the opportunity to experience use of a PDA, which is used within the modern business environment
  • Specifically, use the calendar to input meetings, appointments etc - (this is an important component of the Organise Schedules unit). E.g;
  1. maintain a to-do list for completing major tasks
  2. establish a list of VE contacts in the address book
  3. take notes during meetings
  4. experiment with bluetooth facility
  5. practice composing emails and sending wirelessly (maybe)
  6. sync with their pc

Using an iPod with my learners to;
  • Provide extra material for self-paced learning for student in the LLN Programme.
  • Support for learners with reading and/or other learning difficulties

Clients

Using mobile technology with Indigenous students would enable me to capture narratives from young Aboriginal learners through means that are more culturally appropriate – ie. Oral storytelling.

2008 Project Objectives

  • To gather qualitative data around the success of a number of Aboriginal and youth at risk programs I am coordinating. I firmly believe the use of mobile and electronic tools – such as iPod voice recorders - would enable and enhance this process and facilitate wider sharing of the outcomes within the vocational education and training sector.
